Early in the morning, gather at Dehradun railway station to meet your trekking group. From here, a comfortable mountain vehicle takes you on a spectacular 220-kilometer drive, winding alongside rushing rivers and climbing steadily through terraced valleys and towering pine forests.

By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the charming border village of Sankri. After checking into your cozy guesthouse, join an essential evening briefing with your Xovantic trek leader to prepare for the adventure ahead. The day concludes with a hearty dinner and well-earned rest before the mountain journey begins.

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast before stepping onto the dense pine forest trail that marks the start of your trek. The path rises gradually, winding through a natural corridor of towering trees and sparkling mountain streams. The shaded route allows you to adjust comfortably to the rhythm of the climb and the weight of your pack.

By midday, you’ll arrive at the legendary Juda Ka Talab campsite. Premium tents await near the edge of the iconic high-altitude lake, frozen into a shimmering sheet of ice during winter. As evening falls, wander through the quiet woods before settling under a clear, star-studded sky—an unforgettable prelude to the days ahead.

DISTANCE: 3 Kilometers | TIME: 3 Hours Trek | MAX. ALTITUDE: 11,250 ft

Step out of your tents into the crisp morning air, savoring a steaming cup of tea before the climb begins. The trail soon leaves the shelter of the tree line, rising steadily into open snow meadows that unfold into vast panoramas of surrounding Himalayan peaks.

By early afternoon, you’ll reach Kedarkantha Base Camp, an exposed clearing where temperatures drop quickly. Heavy insulated layers become essential here. Dinner is served early, as the team prepares for the pre-dawn summit push—a thrilling ascent that awaits with the promise of sunrise over the high ridges.

DISTANCE: 9 Kilometers | TIME: 8 Hours Total | MAX. ALTITUDE: 12,500 ft

At midnight, the ultimate summit push begins beneath a dazzling canopy of stars. With microspikes strapped on, you ascend steep, icy slopes in the silence of the night. Hours later, you stand triumphantly at 12,500 feet just as the first golden rays of sunrise spill across the endless Himalayas.

From the crest, breathtaking 360-degree views unfold—Swargarohini, Black Peak, and the Bandarpoonch ranges glowing in the morning light. After soaking in this unforgettable panorama, you descend past Base Camp and return to the familiar campsite at Juda Ka Talab. The evening is spent celebrating your achievement with warm snacks, hot dinner, and stories shared under the crisp mountain sky.

DISTANCE: 4 km Trek + 220 km Drive | TIME: 12 Hours Total | Return Transit

After a final breakfast in the wilderness, pack up camp and begin the descent. A brisk four-hour walk through the familiar pine forests leads you back to the welcoming village of Sankri. Here, you bid farewell to the incredible local guides and support staff who made the journey possible.

Your Xovantic vehicle awaits to carry you back toward the plains. The return drive traces scenic mountain rivers and winding valleys, eventually bringing you to Dehradun by late evening. With this, your extraordinary Kedarkantha winter crossover adventure officially concludes—leaving you with lasting memories of snow-clad peaks, frozen lakes, and the triumph of reaching the summit.

NOTE

On Day 5, you will reach Dehradun between 06:00 PM and 07:00 PM. Therefore, plan your onward journey accordingly. We recommend booking your travel back to your hometown any time after 08:00 PM.
